How to get from Orly Airport to the city center of Paris

Depending on your budget or haste there's the following options:

RER [B] Train - Cheapest option but beware of co-travelers

You get to the Paris city center via 2 trains, costing around 30 minutes. At €14,50 for a combination ticket this is the cheapest transfer in 2024.

⚠️ Warning: I've heard quite negative comments regarding the safety on board of the RER[B] due to the neighborhoods that are also served by this train.

  1. First you get on the OrlyVal for ±6-8 minutes.
The OrlyVal is a special train that commutes between Orly and the nearest regional train station.
  2. Then you switch to the RER B train to a trainstation of your choice in Paris. Trains depart at 10-15 minute intervals.

Downside: You have to switch trains and you still need to get from the train station to your final destination.

Bus - Cheap but not optimal

At €11,20 you can take a 30 minute shuttle bus between Orly airport and "place Denfert-Rochereau" from where you can continue via RERB regional trains or metro lines 4 and 6. They depart every 10-15 minutes. Forfait Navigo zones 1-4 accepted.

There are bus stations at all 4 terminals of Orly. The bus service does not run between 0:30am and 5:35am.

Downside: You still need to get from the train station to your final destination. Also getting tickets can be a bit of a hassle if you come unprepared.

Private car or Shuttle van - Family Friendly - Very comfortable

The most comfortable option for families and small groups up to 8 persons is a pre-arranged shuttle van. At around €99 it'll take you from the airport to anywhere in the city. It brings you straight to where you need to be, but depending on your group size it may be a more expensive option.

Uber - Comfortable

Uber users get to anywhere in the center of Paris at around €58. It brings you straight to where you need to be, but not the best choice for groups of 4-8 people.

Taxi - Flat Rates for Airport Transfer - Comfortable

One of the most hassle free ways to get to the city centre is by taxi. Official taxis charge flat rates for Airport↔City transfer, being:

Traveling on a budget

If you wanna save a buck go for the bus or train options. It'll be more hassle with your luggage but you'll save some money to go see the sights of Paris, which is an expensive city anyway. If you want comfort and don't mind it comes with a price, do for the different Taxi options.

Many cab drivers don't really speak any other language than French, but that shouldn't be a problem.

Buying public transport tickets online

To travel with ease, buy you public transport tickets online by downloading the Île-de-France Mobilités app for Android or iOS. It allows you to find the best route and transport type, validate tickets directly with your phone and get traffic information.
