Arc de Triomphe
The neoclassical Arc de Triomphe is a monument that was originally built to celebrate Napoleon's victory at Austerlitz but it's after the 2nd world war it got repurposed as a commemoration of the 1st world war. Underneath one finds the tomb of the unknown soldier which is being rekindled at 6:30 each evening.
This touristic must-see is not just an impressive sight to see from below, but at slightly over 50 meters height it's also a great vantage point from which to see the city and finds itself at the end of 12 of Paris' main avenues making it easy to find. or just jump off the bus when once you're there.
